Iowa’s New Coach

April 3, 2007 |

Todd Lickliter is Iowa’s new head basketball coach. He’ll receive $1.2 million a year over the course of a 7-year contract. Lickliter will begin his duties at Iowa as the recently-named National Coach of the Year, winning the award as the coach of Butler.

I personally thought Creighton’s Dana Altman would be Alford’s successor, but he’s had his own issues to worry about.

  1. I feel pretty good about him. I actually didn’t think Iowa had a chance at him. What I thought showed a lot was how disappointed the Butler players seemed to be.
Now Iowa just treat him good and support him.
He came up thru the ranks from what I read and is personable and not a pretty boy SI cover boy. I hope he gets Alfords’ house, it looked pretty nice from the pic I saw.

  3. I think this is a good hire for us. Seems like a real down to earth guy. That’s a nice change.
